Newsletter draft from messy notes

The core prompt. Paste your unsorted notes and links and get a structured, readable newsletter draft in your voice.

Task: writing an email newsletter from rough notesBest in: ClaudeFormat: single promptPack: Email newsletter in 20 minutes

What you'll fill in

  • [voice] Three to five words for how you sound e.g. “calm, warm, lightly funny, never preachy”
  • [main cta] The one thing you most want readers to do e.g. “Book a spot in the new Sunday class”

The prompt
You are an editor who writes friendly, useful email newsletters for small businesses. Turn my messy notes into a newsletter draft.

Newsletter: [business name]
Readers: [audience]
Voice: [voice]
The one action I want readers to take: [main cta]

My raw notes (unordered, use what is useful):
[raw notes]

Instructions:
1. Pick the single most interesting or important item as the lead. Put the main call to action there or right after it.
2. Group the rest into no more than 3-4 short sections with clear, plain subheadings.
3. Open with 1-3 sentences that sound like a person, not a press release. No "We hope this email finds you well."
4. Keep paragraphs to 1-3 sentences. The whole email should be readable in under 3 minutes (roughly 250-450 words).
5. Use only facts from my notes. If a detail is missing (a date, a price, a link), insert [ADD: what is missing] instead of inventing it.
6. End with a short sign-off in my voice and one P.S. line that repeats or supports the main call to action.

After the draft, list anything from my notes you left out and why, in one line each.

How to use it

  1. Open a new chat in Claude (the others work too).
  2. Paste the prompt and replace every [bracket] with your details.
  3. Review the output, check any facts, and edit to taste.

Why Claude: Claude is good at turning disorganized input into warm, natural-sounding prose without over-polishing it.

Tips

  • Do not clean up your notes first. The whole point is that the model does the organizing.
  • Search the draft for [ADD: ...] markers before sending. They mark details the model refused to guess.
  • If it sounds too polished, reply "make it sound more like a quick note from me, less like marketing."

Example output

Hi friends, Sundays just got a little softer. Starting November 2, we're adding a Restorative class every Sunday at 5pm: slow, supported, lots of bolsters, zero pressure to do anything fancy. Book your spot in Sunday Restorative → [ADD: booking link] Maya is back Maya has returned from her teacher training and is back on the schedule this week. Come say hi (and ask her about the new sequences she's been dying to share). A tip for desk days If you sit most of the day, your hips probably feel it. Try this: lie on your back, cross your right ankle over your left knee, and gently draw your left thigh toward you. Hold for five slow breaths, then switch. Your lower back may thank you, too. Gifts that aren't another candle Holiday gift cards are available at the front desk and online [ADD: gift card link]. Any amount, never expires [ADD: confirm expiry policy]. See you on the mat, The Lumen team P.S. Sunday Restorative classes are small. Grab a spot for November 2 while there's room. LEFT OUT: Nothing — all four notes were used.
